Numeric fields must contain digits only: write 12.99, not '$12.99' or '12,99'.

Put units in the dedicated unit column, never in the value column.

Set the spreadsheet column format to Text before typing identifiers so Excel does not convert 0071 to 71 or a code to scientific notation.

Dates must be ISO format (YYYY-MM-DD).

Strip line breaks, tabs and smart quotes pasted in from Word or a web page.
